Darfur followups – El Fasher
Local sources in the town of Tawila, North Darfur State, reported on Saturday the death of a foreign employee working with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) under mysterious circumstances.
The NRC, along with UN agencies and other humanitarian organizations, provides assistance to nearly 600,000 displaced people in Tawila, which is under the control of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid al-Nur.
According to Darfur24, the foreign staff member was found dead inside his room at the organization’s compound in the town.
The NRC administration reportedly imposed strict secrecy around the incident and granted its staff temporary leave.
Sources said the organization has begun arrangements to transfer the body to the town of Adré through Nierteti and El Geneina.
Tawila has become a major humanitarian hub in the Darfur region, hosting thousands of people fleeing the ongoing fighting in El Fasher.
