The World Food Program suspends aid delivery to Gezira State

The World Food Program announced today, Thursday, the suspension of the delivery of food aid to some areas of Gezira State in Sudan, after the ongoing conflict in the country escalated to the south and east of the city of Khartoum.

The World Food Program added in its statement that about 300,000 people fled Al Jazeera State within days, after violent clashes broke out there last week.

Eddie Roy, the representative and director of the World Food Program in Sudan, explained that the Authority suspended the delivery of food aid in some areas in the state of Gezira, noting that the World Food Program teams are working around the clock to provide aid in the areas where it can be provided.
