The Chadian government expels the Sudanese embassy staff and gives them 72 hours to leave

Darfur Follow-ups: N’Djamena

The Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the Sudanese Embassy in N’Djamena of the Chadian government’s decision to classify Sudanese diplomats working in Chad as “undesirable persons”, whose names were mentioned as Mr. Mukhtar Bilal Abdel Salam
Al-Abbas, First Counselor and Mr. Abdel-Rahim Al-Awad Al-Toum, Military Attaché. Mr. Haj Abdallah Haj Ahmed, Consul in N’Djamena, and Mr. Mohamed Haj Bakhit Farah, Deputy Consul General resident in Abéché.

It called on them to leave the territory of Chad within a period of (72) hours.

The Ministry is informed that this decision came in response to the serious and baseless statements of General Yasser Al-Atta, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces, who accused the Republic of Chad of interfering in the internal Sudanese conflict.

These accusations were surprisingly repeated by the Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ali Asadig, on a local television channel.

This action comes after the Republic of Chad expressed its astonishment, raised sharp protests, and requested clarification regarding the statements made by General Yasser Al-Atta.

The Ministry affirms its great respect for the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Sudan in N’Djamena.
