“RSF” the evacuation of Turkish doctors from South Darfur

Darfur Follow-ups: Nyala

The Turkish doctors working at the Sudanese Turkish Hospital in Nyala left the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State, after the end of their specified period of work, awaiting the arrival of their replacement.

After every six months, the Turkish Ministry of Health sends a new medical team to be replaced by the staff present at the Sudanese Turkish Hospital in Nyala.

The citizens of the city of Nyala fear a decline in the medical services provided by the Sudanese-Turkish Hospital after the Turkish doctors left, especially since the hospital is the only hospital that did not stop working throughout the war between the army and the Rapid Support in the city.

An official from the state Ministry of Health said that the state’s Rapid Support Forces took over the protection of the Turkish medical staff on their way to the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, and from there, arrangements will be made for their travel to Turkey.

After the Turkish doctors left, the hospital became staffed by Sudanese staff, but the hospital administration demanded that the Ministry of Health stand with the Sudanese staff by providing medicines and medical consumables until the replacement Turkish doctors arrived.
