Military sources in North Darfur State revealed that the Rapid Support Forces carried out withdrawals in large numbers over the past few days from the city of El Fasher, heading east towards Kordofan, and that they joined other forces in the center of the country.
The sources explained in a report published by “Arabi Post” that these forces are stationed in the areas of North and West Kordofan, especially in: Al-Naim and Um Bader.
It also indicated that the Sudanese army carried out air strikes in Kordofan and Darfur during the past two days, against the Rapid Support Forces, in Um Kadada locality, east of North Darfur state.
It confirmed that the Rapid Support Forces were able to control Um Kadada a few days ago, in North Darfur state, bordering North Kordofan.
An army garrison and old headquarters for the UNAMID mission (a mixed force between the African Union and the United Nations in Darfur) are located in this area, which witnessed the withdrawal of a convoy of its military forces.
In this context, press sources in that region revealed to that “an unannounced secret agreement took place between the Rapid Support and the armed movements during the past days, which led to the military withdrawal of the Rapid Support from El Fasher towards Kordofan.”
Arab Post contacted spokesmen for the armed movements and the Rapid Support Forces, but has not received answers yet.
The armed movements in Darfur, specifically in the city of El Fasher, had previously declared neutrality in the fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, but they issued threats when the Rapid Support Forces began its siege of the city of El Fasher, that they might abandon their position and side with the Sudanese army if a battle began in the city. this area.
While the Justice and Equality Movement, led by Jibril Ibrahim, and the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Minni Arko Minawi, who also holds the position of governor of the Darfur region, decided on Thursday, November 16, 2023, to abandon their neutrality and confront the Rapid Support Forces.
