UAE aid to Chad amounted to $59.6 million over 5 years

The Emirati ambassador to N’Djamena, Rashid Saeed Al Shamsi, said that his country’s aid to Chad, during the period between 2018 and 2023, amounted to 59.6 million US dollars, 56% of which was in the form of humanitarian aid.

The Emirati ambassador said – on the occasion of his country’s celebration of the 52nd anniversary of the Union Day – that in 2023, his country, in cooperation with Chad, operated an air bridge for the relief of Sudanese refugees in Chad to provide medical assistance to them, and a field hospital was opened in the city of Um Jaras, where at least 9 people benefited from it. Thousands of cases in addition to 116 different surgical operations.

The Emirati diplomat revealed that the second Emirati foreign aid coordination office was opened in the city of Um jaras last August, as part of his country’s efforts to provide aid to the Chadian people and support efforts to provide humanitarian and relief aid through Emirati humanitarian institutions to Sudanese refugees in Chad, according to him.
