According to testimonies collected by local media over the phone from the site of the event, the attack began in the early hours of Thursday, November 2, 2023, around 5 a.m., and the movement launched a violent attack on National Army positions in the town of Sedo, located within the state of Oham Fafa, on The border with southern Chad. The exact results of this attack are still uncertain, but local sources reported that the attackers took control of the area.

On the part of the National Army, reinforcements have arrived to the forces facing difficulties. These reinforcements consist mainly of mercenaries from the Wagner Group, a Russian private military security company. The involvement of Russian mercenaries raises fears of an escalation of the conflict in the region.
